Wide Bay Media Awards – Best Sports Photo – Rugby League

One of the wettest rugby league seasons on record. I hesitated here and almost didn’t trip the shutter, but instinct ruled and I exposed one frame to the mud and unmown footy oval. Grass was seeding all over the outfield and the centre of the oval was nothing but large pools of mud due the the incessant rain that season. I only realised the true significance of this image with the negative projected through the enlarger back in the darkroom.
